Yes or No Tarot
Focus on a clear yes-or-no question, shuffle and pick one card. Upright positive cards say yes, challenging cards say no, and reversals soften the answer.

Take a breath, think of your question, then tap one card from the fan.
How yes or no tarot works
Each card leans yes, no or maybe. Cards such as The Sun, The Star and the Ace of Cups lean yes; The Tower, Death and many Swords lean no; reflective cards like The High Priestess and The Hanged Man say maybe. A reversed card moves the answer one step towards no.
Asking a good question
- Ask about something you can influence: “Should I apply for this job?” rather than “Will he call?”.
- Ask once and accept the answer as guidance.
- For complex matters, use a three-card reading instead.
How yes or no tarot works
Every card leans one way. Of the 22 Major Arcana, 14 lean yes (such as The Sun, The Star and The World), 4 lean no (such as The Tower and Death) and the rest say “maybe”. A reversed card softens a yes into “not yet” and a no into “the worst is passing”.
Ask a clear question about something within your control, for example “Should I apply for this job?” rather than “Will they call me?”. For bigger decisions, follow up with a three card reading.
Tips for a clearer answer
- Ask one question at a time.
- Phrase it so that “yes” and “no” both make sense.
- Accept the first draw; don’t reshuffle for a better answer.
- Treat “maybe” as advice to gather more information.
Frequently asked questions
Can tarot really answer yes or no?
It gives a symbolic nudge to reflect on, not a guarantee.
What does a maybe mean?
The outcome depends on choices still to be made; read the card’s advice.
Is the card chosen randomly?
Yes. The deck is shuffled with your browser’s secure random generator each time, just like a physical shuffle.
