- Jupiter conjoins or aspects Mars; this traditionally softens the dosha.
What is Mangal dosha?
A person is called Manglik when Mars sits in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house of the birth chart. Mars is a fiery planet, and in these houses it is traditionally said to bring friction or delay in marriage. Many astrologers check Mars from the Lagna, the Moon and Venus.
Cancellation of Mangal dosha
- Mars in its own sign (Aries, Scorpio) or exalted (Capricorn).
- Both partners being Manglik, which is the most common remedy in matching.
- Mars aspected by or conjunct Jupiter.
- Many traditions consider the effect to soften after age 28.
Mangal dosha is common
By the six-house rule, close to half of all charts show Mars in a Manglik house from at least one reference point. A Manglik chart is not bad; it simply needs proper matching. Read the Mangal dosha remedies.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if I am Manglik?
Enter your birth details above. If Mars is in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house from the Lagna or the Moon, the chart is Manglik.
Can a Manglik marry a non-Manglik?
Yes, especially when the dosha is cancelled or mild. Matching both full charts matters more than one factor.
Does Mangal dosha end after 28?
Many astrologers believe its intensity reduces after 28, though it is not considered to vanish completely.
What are the remedies?
Hanuman Chalisa, Mangal shanti puja, Kumbh vivah, and matching with another Manglik chart are the traditional remedies.
