What is a dosha in a Kundli?

A dosha is a planetary combination traditionally linked with obstacles in a specific area of life: Mangal dosha with marriage, Kaal Sarp with repeated struggle, Pitra dosha with ancestral karma, and Sade Sati with a demanding Saturn transit. Most doshas are common and many are cancelled by other factors in the chart, so a dosha alone is never a reason for fear.

How remedies work

Traditional remedies (upay) include mantra chanting, fasting on the planet’s weekday, charity of items linked to the planet, worship of the related deity, and gemstones. They are practices of discipline and devotion; the most important remedy, as every classical text says, is good conduct.

Frequently asked questions

Which dosha is most common?

Mangal dosha: by the six-house rule, close to half of all charts show it from at least one reference point.

Do remedies remove a dosha completely?

Remedies are believed to reduce difficult effects; the chart itself does not change.

How do I know which doshas are in my chart?
