Why the Moon sign matters in Vedic astrology
Western horoscopes use the Sun sign, but Indian astrology gives the Moon sign first place. The Moon stands for the mind, emotions and daily experience. Your rashi decides which rashifal to read, when Shani Sade Sati begins, and how your chart is matched for marriage.
How to find your rashi
The Moon changes sign every two to two-and-a-half days, so the date alone is usually enough. If you were born on a day when the Moon changed sign, the birth time decides your rashi. This calculator uses the exact time and the Lahiri ayanamsa, and also shows your Western (tropical) Moon sign for comparison.
